Gravetye Manor Hotel

Gravetye Manor was home to William Robinson, the eminent Victorian gardener who started the revival of naturalistic planting.  The house was successfully transformed into one of the very first Country House Hotels by Peter Herbert in 1958.

Jeremy and Elizabeth Hosking took over the hotel in 2010 following Peter Herbert's retirement.  Nigel has worked with the clients during the recent rennovation to keep the original spirit of the house and garden.  Crawley Studios found it a pleasure to oversee the restoration of this important grade 2 listed building and garden.  The restoration of the garden is the inspiration of Tom Coward and with Nigel’s management this vision became achievable. Changes were carefully considered and made sympathetically both inside and out.  It was crucial to unite the beauty of the exterior with the interior - so much of the decoration has a floral theme to reflect the magnificence of the gardens.

Nigel was responsible for project managing the major refurbishment of the house and garden, updating the infrastructure of the building.  There have been new facilities put in place internally to meet the demands of the guests.

Before Crawley Studios began this renovation, the house had become unloved.  It now has its sparkle back.
